Mr. Amitabh Bachchan is a gem, so humble & pragmatic. Words fall short of describing his aura & persona. I can rewind & replay each moment of that exceptional day. His radiating smile, his words of praise, receiving the title of 'The Big A of Anchoring' from 'The Big B of Bollywood', down to take his blessings, followed by a warm hug in those outstretched mighty arms of the Shahenshah of Bollywood - the moment is eternal, divine and bliss. I am remarkably blessed to have witnessed this charm up & close.
Representing India is always a great honor. My interview on BBC World is a treasured souvenir. UK's leading presenter Hayley Millar welcomed me as the 'Guest of Honor' from India.
Everyone was requested to rise as the Indian national anthem played. The Indian flag was hoisted and a guard of honor by the British offcials was presented. The interview then followed. The experience was astounding & I felt I had made my country proud in a foreign nation.
Indian Express has a pen in their logo, and I feel humbled to have my name penned down with this award. I learnt immensely from other winners in other categories
The experience was majestic & regal, just like the movie Baahubali. In a month long tour, we covered the United Kingdom extensively and were welcomed with roaring chants of Baahubali everywhere.
From London to Edinburgh, there was frenzy around the mega epic. Fans would cheer for me and call me 'Baahubali'. Post my return in India too; audience, fans and friends kept addressing me as 'Baahubali'. I found it a bit amusing but the entire hysteria was phenomenal.
To be of any service or to engage with the Indian Army is a privilege of a lifetime – I had this blessing. I learnt life lessons from them. It was the kindness of the Indian army that the honorary General Officer Commander felicitated me.
I had immense joy and pride while receiving this title. It’s a lifetime achievement for me.
The IPL fever strikes the country with enthusiasm and zeal. I am honored to have had the opportunity to represent this national frenzy. Traveling with players, interviewing them, branding teams and IPL overall is grandeur for me. I treasured batting against Mitchell Johnson, bowling bouncers to Chris Gayle & my leg cutters to Rahul Dravid.
The best part is to be able to connect with diverse audience bases cheering for their respective states, teams and players
I had always fancied hosting a game show based on food. I worked on this concept for years and found my show on Food Food. My mom had watched recipes of Chef Sanjeev Kapoor for years on the channel. She sensed pride to see me there on the same channel.
My first lecture for an MBA institute was at Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM) in the year 2008. I followed it up with another guest lecture at IIM-B and at Welingkar in the same year.
Numerous colleges and universities with varied disciplines like engineering, arts, science, commerce, fashion, marine etc. started inviting me to educate and inspire their students on various courses. These memories and recognitions have a special place in my heart forever.
I understand the way to better living is by giving back to the society. Through ‘The Akshaya Patra Foundation’ I see those synergies to educate and feed underserved kids in India. My goal along with that of the organization is to shut down permanently, so that all kids have enough food and education.
